The role is part of the client insight and analysis team within FINEX. The main responsibilities are i) analysing individual claims/losses and ii) assisting with the analysis of aggregated data and the production of reports.

  • Create a narrative summarising the claim.

  • Work with the data to assist with the production of standard reports, bespoke reports and data requests

The Requirements:

  • Experience of working with data. Intermediate (or above) excel skills preferred.

People specification. Some of the main requirements are:

  • Initiative.

  • To be both inquisitive and interested.

  • Comfortable working with ambiguity.

  • Attention to detail

  • Able to take decisions.

  • A good analyst of situations. Being able to piece together sometimes disparate pieces of information and makes sense of the whole.

  • Good written English and also numerate.

  • Insurance industry and claims experience would be a bonus, but not essential. Equally useful (but again not essential) would be some industry experience from the industry groups of our clients e.g. financial institutions and professions.

  • Considered thinking” is critical. Being able to understand the story of a claim (or any other event) is not dependent on years of experience or in depth knowledge. It is about reading, assimilation of facts, often some checking of facts/understanding on the internet and sometimes making some sensible assumptions. This then provides the foundations for good analysis of that claim/event.

  • This needs to be coupled with a desire to want to understand something. If someone has got the drive then you can figure out 90% of the necessary information from that alone.

  • Unfortunately these last two are both difficult to teach/instil or to identify as a skill in a candidate.
