WTW Risk Engineer in Sydney, Australia

As a result of the changing dynamics of our clients, we are currently seeking a Risk Engineer to join our dynamic Risk & Analytics (R&A) team. R&A is a team of dedicated experts spanning the fields of insurance, science and engineering to provide unrivalled analytical risk advice to our global corporate client base.

The Role

R&A helps our clients define, evaluate, and prioritise risk financing and risk management decisions for all forms of risk, whether normal or catastrophic. Our products and services aim to put our clients on equal footing with their underwriters when designing and pricing insurance programs. Our overall aim is to ensure our clients are confident in their risk financing strategy and decisions, whether the risks are insured or insurable.

  • Support on risk engineering work for our large corporate accounts and lead on smaller accounts

  • Identify, analyse and assess our client's insurable property, and asset risks (essential). Any experience in dealing with liability risks is also desirable

  • Quantify loss expectancies for key risks and identified deficiencies

  • Collect underwriting information to assist with structuring the insurance program

  • Consult on the development and implementation of risk improvements, designed to reduce our client's exposures, business continuity planning experience is desirable

  • Provide continuous risk engineering support throughout the lifetime of key projects

  • Take part in internal and external marketing of our risk engineering services at client meetings as well as relevant domestic workshops

  • The role will involve travel to our client sites throughout Australia and New Zealand to conduct asset protection and loss prevention surveys

The Requirements

This role would suit a risk engineer with proven professional experience. This exciting opportunity will allow the successful applicant to develop their technical skills whilst working across diverse industries on both local and international accounts. Exposure to R&A's other service offerings will also be provided to broaden the individual’s risk knowledge.

  • Engineering degree

  • Previous insurer experience as a loss prevention engineer

  • Understanding of FM Global, NFPA and AS/NZ Standards for Fire Protection

  • Confident, self-starter with a passion for assisting clients to understand their insurable risks better

  • Good project management, communication & client facing presentation skills

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in report writing

  • Exceptional time management skills

  • Highly motivated team player able to thrive in a consultancy team environment
