WTW Legal Counsel, Indonesia in Indonesia

The primary focus of the role is to provide high quality commercial legal advice, counsel and support to the Risk & Broking and Health, Wealth & Career business segments in Indonesia. Your focus areas of work are: commercial contract reviews and drafting, assisting with regulatory advice, cross-border transactions, assisting with professional indemnity claims and other litigation, advising on new products and sales initiatives. There may also be opportunities for involvement with employment matters and special projects including M&A transactions.

The Role

  • Provide and support the timely provision of practical legal advice and services to the Risk & Broking and Health, Wealth & Career business segments in Indonesia.

  • Efficiently manage a large volume of matters, negotiate numerous standard and complex corporate and commercial agreements for the company’s business operations while balancing appropriate legal, regulatory and business risks.

  • Where required, support the team in the conduct of litigation.

  • Work closely with the compliance team in providing regulatory, licensing and other compliance advice to the business.

  • Cooperate with the privacy team in providing privacy-related advice and solutions to the business.

  • Rapidly assess potential legal and compliance risks, benefits, and consequences of decisions. Present alternatives and propose solutions to achieve business objectives while skillfully managing legal and practical business considerations.

  • Interface directly with clients, vendors, and other third party legal, procurement, and contracting representatives, as well as internal management and staff.

  • Work with corporate teams (e.g. client development, marketing, IT, HR, Finance, etc.) to achieve business objectives.

  • Support commercial and other legal needs of the company’s business operations in Indonesia while remaining as a member of the Asia-Pacific legal team and being part of a global legal department serving a global organization.

  • Work with our employment law and investigations teams on employment and investigations issues.

The Requirements

  • A qualified lawyer with at least 3 years’ of post-qualification experience.

  • Experience in insurance-related areas of the law and regulations is highly preferred.

  • Strong academic credentials and work experience gained from a reputable law firm and/or in-house environment.

  • An enthusiastic and a commercially-oriented team player, with an ability to quickly comprehend the company’s business operations and legal needs.

  • Strong English language skill, both oral and written.

  • Analytical and skilled at providing pragmatic commercial advice to the business.

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.

  • Strong interpersonal skills to foster teamwork, to maintain effective working relationships and to gain respect of colleagues and clients.

  • Ability to work independently.

  • Ability to analyse and summarize key legal and business issues and alternatives for executive decisions.

  • Results-focused; able to work in fast-paced, deadline oriented environment.

  • Self-starter and independent/strategic thinker.

  • A team player who wants to work for the benefit of all.
